Something not working as it should? Here we go through common problems and how to solve them.

The motor does not start​

Check the basics first​

  1. Is the battery installed and locked?

    • Check that the battery clicked into place and is locked with the key

  2. Is the ignition on?

    • Turn the ignition switch to "ON"
    • Check that the voltmeter shows voltage (about 72 to 84 V)

  3. Is the battery charged?

    • If the voltmeter shows low or no voltage, charge the battery.

    You can also see the approximate charge level by holding down the button on the side of the battery

  4. Is the throttle connected?

    • Check that the throttle connector is seated properly

If the voltmeter shows voltage but the motor does not respond​

  • Check all connectors Are all cables connected correctly according to the markings?
  • Check the hall sensor cable. The thin cable from the motor must be connected.

The motor jerks or runs unevenly​

Possible causes​

  1. Hall sensor problem

    • Check that the hall sensor cable is seated properly
    • A damaged cable can cause uneven operation

  2. Loose connectors

    • Check all connections on the controller
    • Make sure the connectors are fully inserted

  3. Throttle problem

    • Try moving the throttle slowly. If it stutters, the throttle may be damaged.

The brake rubs against the brake disc​

The disc rubs all the way around​

  • The disc is bent. This can happen if it has been hit. Gently straighten it by hand or replace the disc.

The disc rubs at one point​

  • Check that the wheel sits straight in the dropouts
  • Adjust the brake caliper. Loosen the caliper bolts, squeeze the brake, and tighten the bolts again while the brake is held in

The disc still rubs after adjustment​

  • A spacer is needed. Add a spacer inside the dropout on the brake disc side to move the wheel slightly.

The freewheel rubs against the dropout​

Symptom: You hear a scraping sound from the freewheel side, especially when pedaling.

Solution: Add a spacer inside the dropout on the freewheel side to move the wheel a few millimeters toward the brake disc side.

The gears do not work correctly​

The chain skips between sprockets​

The chain will not shift to the largest or smallest sprocket​

  • The limit stops need adjustment. The rear derailleur has two screws (H and L) that limit movement. Adjust these.

Wrong number of clicks on the shifter​

  • Wrong shifter. Make sure you have a 6- or 7-speed shifter that matches the freewheel.

Battery problems​

The battery will not mount​

  • Check the mounting plate. Is it straight and stable?
  • Check the battery. Does it slide into the correct track?

The battery does not charge​

  • Check the charger. Is the charger lit? Is it connected to power?
  • Check the charging connector. Is it seated properly in the battery?
  • Contact LiVerkstaden. If the problem continues, contact LiVerkstaden for support.

The throttle does not respond​

  1. Check the connection. Is the connector seated properly in the controller?
  2. Check the cable. Any visible damage?
  3. Test with the ignition on. Is the ignition on?
